Mechanicalness
MECHAN'ICALNESS, n. The state of being mechanical, or governed by mechanism. (1)

Famed Chopper builder Indian Larry loved using the word "Mechanicalness" to describe his work and in the work of countless other custom bike builders today, from artistically twisted metal frames to bare-boned engines that showcase their ‘mechanicalness.’
Design-wise, Larry liked to see all the parts of a motorcycle exposed. He liked to see all the gizmos, the clockwork of the bike. The art was in function. "I like all the nuts and bolts and fittings, the linkage and the mechanicalness of it. I like to see all the mechanicalness," Larry said. He likened this to opening the back of a pocket watch and seeing all the internal components exposed and ticking away. (2)
